Barbara Cameron hails from the Canadian prairies, but now calls Metro Vancouver home. Her photographer's eye was first discovered as a young adult but the demands of career and motherhood meant Barbara's camera sat unused for many years.
Inspiration came knocking again around 2005, and Barbara took up the digital lens. After some time of photographic self-exploration, Barbara completed the Photography Certificate at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, and hung out her shingle as a professional commercial photographer. The evolution of that business has seen Barbara specialize in food photography and architecture photography for a variety of clients in the Vancouver area. She's also known for capturing compelling portraits and covering corporate events from start to finish.
Photography is not just business for Barbara. The artist within seeks expression, so Barbara's passion is also an avid hobby.
Her artistic subjects may be in nature, landscapes, on the street, portraiture or abstract, but they all have one thing in common. Barbara says, "I am inspired by details, patterns, light and colour. There is beauty, quirkiness and surprise in details and patterns. Wherever I look, I see still life photographs often in the most unusual places. When an image presents itself to me I get a feeling, an emotion, an "ah-hah" moment. It may happen subconsciously but it happens and often stops me in my tracks. I hope that I can capture and present photographs to elicit the same emotional response, to allow viewers to experience moments of wonder, of beauty, of balance, of fun."
