Ingrid and her family make Langley, B.C., their home.
"I have loved photography for seven years now(seriously) and all my life (casually). My husband gifted me with a digital SLR camera a few Christmas’s ago. I took some evening classes to learn more about the technique of photography. And I fell in love!
My favourite subjects are people. Specifically, black and white portraits of children. I just love movement, laughter, and the magic of natural light. I like to try and capture an honest and natural portrait of my subjects. If you want Photoshop and heavy editing, I am not the photographer for you. I love people just the way they are at this moment .... beautiful!
I have been fortunate to have some of my photographs published. Some examples are on bus stops, in books, newspapers, brochures, and calendars. One photo is even tattooed onto one of my clients! (that was a first!)
I was also lucky enough to travel to Argentina in 2012, to view a photograph of my daughter, at an art gallery there. What an experience that was!
I do freelance work for Zajac Children's Ranch in Mission, B.C., each summer. I love the kids that go there and it is a magical place.
Lastly, I photograph what I see around me, mostly my family and friends. I love what I do! I hope you enjoy what you see in my portfolio ... thank you." - Ingrid Bird
