Then & Now Postcard Series,
This project came about as combination of an idea, a family snap shot and a springboard from another's project.
I thought I had enough images in my lifetime of photography to make a series of Then & Now with my own photos. Find a street view or city shot I took from the '70's and go back today and duplicate the shot. Much to my disappointment my inventory of photos didn't lend it self to this idea.
In spring of 2012 my dad sent to a picture of me age 2 in front of the not yet opened Port Mann bridge. With the new Port Mann bridge soon to be opened, it just made sense to get a before and after picture. I really wish I had more pictures for this idea.
A few months later I was in a 2nd hand / vintage store in Kalama WA with Brian M and we were looking at old postcards. This lead to Brian sharing with me his postcard shots he and his mother did - which are part of his Post Card Series. The store had some old postcards from Vancouver...
*ding* - *the light goes on*
That was how my Then & Now Postcard Series came about. Often there is a personal story that is scribbled on the back of the cards.
